muginet is a system for long-distance, low-latency communication in SL via http through a third-party server. It is designed primarily for chat links, but intended to be useful for any application where long-distance communication is needed. The muginet server source is freely available, so anyone may run their own server.
Firstly, if you have inquired about muginet and I did not reply, I apologize. I do have a list of names, and will get back to you eventually.
When this page was first posted, muginet was running and "days from release." Some things happened, and more importantly a lot of things didn't happen, and suffice to say this is no longer the case. We are going to be undergoing a lot of changes service-wise in the near future, and development of muginet will resume soon. Sorry to the families of those who had been holding their breath all this time, but I swear I read it was impossible to die from that.
muginet is pronounced mu-gi-netto, with a hard g and a thick Japanese accent. muginet is always written in lowercase, American letters. You probably shouldn't use the Japanese letters that are on the picture over there because my friend told me that it actually reads "I am retarded." Since you probably want to anyway, here it is where you can copy and paste: 「むぎネット」. Those 3/4-bracket things are pretty cool too, huh. Please keep these guidelines in mind when using the internet so you don't hurt anyone's feelings or embarrass yourself.
The muginet server is written in C using glib-2.0 and libevent. It is developed and tested on Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X, and Windows. It uses cmake to generate platform-appropriate build files.
"Ever since I started taking muginet, my girlfriend can't keep her hands off me! Thanks guys, keep up the great work!" -- Patrick S., Toronto
muginet is brought to you by a generous grant from the W-Hat Foundation, the number 9.5, and the letter π.
